Kids Halloween Party Ideas

Are you stuck with what to do for this Halloween? Every year kids just love to do the classic trick or treating. Although due to many people not wanting to let their kids go out on their own, and people not wanting to give kids money, as this is now expected more than sweets, Parents are looking more at Halloween parties for all the friends and adults to be around in one place, knowing their kids are being safe but having GREAT FUN!

The question is once you decide to put on a great party like this, how can you entertain the kids? How do you put on a great Kids Halloween Party?
A relatively cheap way is to get everyone to bring a pumpkin round and buy some cheap paints for the great Halloween tradition of pumpkin painting! If you find pumpkin painting hard, there are guides available for impressive but easy pumpkin painting. Its not just putting a simple face, it can go to the next level, but with relative ease!

Games and activities are a must. As is music. A great, cheap and simple idea is to get some cobweb spray, and spray it around. It really gives your house the haunted feel. Also turn off the main lights and but on side lighting. If you want to add that extra touch cover the shades with orange. Just make sure its away from the light bulb if the material is flammable. Music, obviously can be anything, but its nice to throw in the odd Halloween theme track, whether its Thriller, or Rocky Horror Show.

As for games, this is where you can get creative. If you struggle in this area there is a range of downloadable premium games that you print off. You can view more info here. It offers a lot of different games and activities, Halloween related, for a wide age range of children. From colouring and writing games, to picture bingo and riddle match.

Remember to take lots of pictures, and have fun with it. Remember if you need children's halloween costumes check out Kids Fancy Dress 4U.

How to Dress Like Angelina Ballerina

Angelina Ballerina is a fictional mouse character from a book series written by Katharine Holabird and illustrated by Helen Craig.[1] Her character has also been brought to life in animated form for TV. You can dress like Angelina for fancy dress or Halloween by following our suggested steps.

Steps

  1. Buy a pink ballet tutu.
  2. Tie a pink hair ribbon in your hair. This is a trademark hair accessory for Angelina Ballerina.
  3. Buy a pair of pink ballet slippers. These can be real ballet slippers if you aren't walking too far or wearing them outdoors for a long time. If you are walking in them a lot, ask for ballet shoes suitable for streetwear. Numerous shoe manufacturers make such a style of shoe, with ribbon ties included.
  4. Keep the color theme simple. Depictions of Angelina Ballerina tend to show her wearing all one color with few variations (see the image in the introduction). To mimic this style, it is helpful to keep your color theme to one color in varying shades.
  5. Add some mouse features. You will need a tail, a set of whiskers and some mouse ears. There are numerous possible ways for creating these but here are some suggestions to help you decide what you'll do:

    • Make ears from white paper, cut straws, tape them to your mouse ears, color in and attach to an Alice band.
    • Make a tail from white fabric stapled, taped, or glued securely on cardboard cut to look like a tail.
    • Make whiskers from thin black wire or black pipe cleaners.

Tips

  • It can be helpful to look at images of Angelina Ballerina when you are recreating the look. Use the internet, the Angelina Ballerina illustrations in books or the animated shoe to help you evolve your ideas.

Things You'll Need

  • A pink tutu
  • A pair of pink ballet shoes
  • A pink hair ribbon
  • A tail (fabric)
  • Whiskers (fabric or similar)
  • Mouse ears (cardboard or fabric)

Origins of Fancy Dress in the UK

Fancy dress parties have been popular within the United Kingdom for many years, and have progressed from the typical Halloween style costume parties in October, dressing up as witches and vampires, skeletons and other ghoulish characters, to parties now themed around national days (such as St Patricks Day), Christmas parties, themed birthday parties (popular birthday party themes being pimps and hoes, gangsters & flappers) and hen / stag evenings.
Although fancy dress is more commonly referenced right back to the 15th Century in Italy, where grand masquerade balls were held, the origins of fancy dress in the UK is typically traced back to the 18th Century period, but our modern day themes were introduced by both the Victorians and the Edwardians who loved to celebrate in a range of costumes and accessories. Most events were very elaborate affairs on a very grand scale, with only those invited of a high social standing during these periods.
Since then, fancy dress costume parties have been on the increase really since the 1940’s in the UK, in a simpler form compared to today, until the 1970’s. This could be coupled to the increase of film/television programmes being aired throughout the country, resulting in improved imagination and better manufacturing processes opening a new era in the costume industry.
It wasn’t until the 1990’s that the purchasing of costumes in the UK became commonplace. Prior to this, costumes were typically hired for a social or recreational event, and returned to the shop once worn. It’s now hard to find many retail fancy dress shops in local towns, or ones that offer a full range you would expect from a fancy dress retailer, especially since the internet provided home shopping access, no matter where you lived. This meant that fancy dress shops could operate online, have access to a much wider audience and also be able to carry a fuller range of costumes and accessories without having to worry about expensive retail premises or shop fronts. There are still some companies who offer mail hire costume ordering, but purchasing of costumes has now become the standard.
After the late 90’s, retro fashion styles became very popular, with the introduction of 60s, 70s and 80s fancy dress costumes, which clearly mock our fashion sense from these era’s.
Fancy dress doesn’t have to be expensive either. You can purchase complete outfits to dress as your favourite film/cartoon/movie character, or pick up instant accessory kits which can be used with your casual clothing. These instant costume kits can range from Vicars, Nuns, Cops, Maids, Pimps and typically include an accessory kit, badge, hat, overcoat or other themed accessory to complete your fancy dress outfit. Of course, for those who really want to set tongues wagging at your next costume party can go all out and purchase a limited edition costume, some of which retail in excess of £500!
The busiest and most celebrated fancy dress parties all happen around Halloween and are celebrated on or just before the 31st October. The name Halloween is derived from the feast of All Hallows which is celebrated on the 1st November to honour the saints, and the end of the harvest in Gaelic culture.
Halloween has many traditions, which range from trick or treating, the making of bonfires, scaring people, carving jack-o-lanterns, apple bobbing, watching scary films, visiting haunted attractions, pranks and general ghoulish behaviour. Of course, many people now celebrate by having parties inviting everyone to wear Halloween costumes.
Halloween is also known as Samhain, which in other traditions marks the end of the third and final harvest, and is a day to commune with and remember the dead, and is a celebration of the eternal cycle of reincarnation. Samhain is mostly followed by the Wiccan and many Pagan religions.
In European traditions, Halloween is the night when the old god dies, and the crone goddess mourns him deeply for the next six weeks. The popular image of her as the old Halloween hag stirring her cauldron comes from the Celtic belief that all dead souls return to her cauldron of life, and are reborn.
Fancy dress parties and costumes are all about having fun. It’s a great way to celebrate any social occasion, and there will always be more costumes available every year, with the release of every new movie blockbuster or scary film. This year’s examples have been the re-introduction of Freddy Krueger’s latest adventure on the big screen, Avatar, Alice in Wonderland and Iron Man 2.

World Cup Kids Party Themes & Costume Ideas

As anyone who has heard a vuvuzela knows, the World Cup 2010 in South Africa has well and truely got underway. If you value your neighbours you perhaps won't want a load of vuvuzelas around being blown in your garden. However how can you throw a great World Cup Kids party?

Here are a few ideas:

Costume: The obvious idea here is wearing the world cup jerseys and everyone has to dress in various teams. However this is expensive, even for small kids sizes. So why not dress in a traditional or stereotype costume? Aussie beaded hat, American pilgrim frontier kids costume or Kids cowboy outfit, German Liederhosen, or how about a St. George Knight tabard outfit. The list is endless, and there are so many variations for the costumes for almost every nation. It opens up the scope for both boys and girls, who traditionally dont want to dress up in football tops.

Food Ideas: Any kids party needs great simple food. And with the whole World to pick from, doing a bit of each is no problem. Pizza or pasta (Italy) will always go down well with kids, Chips (USA), Bangers and Mash (England), Cheese salad (Greece). If the weather is good get out the BBQ (Australia) Just a few, and if you want to be more adventurous for the adults, without breaking the bank, how about Fajitas (Mexico), or Sushi (Japan). Dont forget the adults! If they are happy so will be the kids.

Games: Without getting the XBox 360 out with a good game of FIFA World Cup, you should think about some easy, cheap and fun party games. You could get all the kids to watch the football and play games to do with what happens. Kids bets with forfeits due to first to score, first to get a booking, and how about prizes for similar. Win a chocolate bar etc. You have free rein here. Have fun with it!

Enjoy the World Cup, and enjoy some great food and a great kids party!

Summer Party Ideas

Stuck for ideas now Easter has gone, and general fancy dress themes are ran out. Here are a few classic ideas to get your party moving this summer.

1, World Cup Theme - Get in the spirit of South Africa and get everyone to dress up as something associated with a team. Bikini's for Brazil, Lager laught for England, Flamenca for Spain, and Mexican Banditos!

You can have themed food from across the globe, and this gives you great scope to do it on any budget.. cheap and cheerful, make it pizza (Italy), lager (England) and burgers (USA).

Or make it more exotic, and dish out Kimchi (S.Korea), Fajitas (Mexico) and Kangaroo steaks(Australia).

2, Victorian Britain - A lot more fun than it sounds. Get out the Street Urchin costumes and mix it up with the Upper Class Ladies. This can be a great laugh, and there are so many costumes out there for both children and adults. Go dirty like someone from Oliver!

Or dress up like a Victorian Gent.  There are literally hundreds of costumes out there for this theme, and for food you got to go with meat and potatoes! haha Simple and Easy, but fun!

3, Roaring 30s - Ignore the great depression and dress up like the Flapper Girls and Dapper Gents from the Art Deco period of the 1930s! Stunning Egyptian French inspired patterns on stunning clothing with masses of accessories.

Think pearls, feathers and cigarette holders. Fantastic outfits form a great era. For inspiration watch Poirot. It has everything you need.

Ideas for halloween costumes for kids

Editted from original article:
http://creativedragon.com/fun-and-creative-ideas-for-childrens-halloween-costumes.html

Children love to dress up in costumes during Halloween. The costumes look very cute and the children thoroughly enjoy themselves during that time. A lot of creativity is involved in choosing and making costumes for the young ones.

Children can be dressed in various types of costumes according to the fancy of the parents and the children. The children identify themselves with the characters in cartoons, movies and fairy tales. You can choose any theme and then create a dress accordingly.

There are many stores that stock up costumes for children that can be worn during Halloween. You can also look at magazines to get ideas. You can browse the internet and either order from the stores or with the available ideas and create a dress for the young one.

You can dress children in scary costumes such as the devil, a vampire, a ghost, a skeleton or a pirate. They will have fun scaring people at the party. Children also relate to real life people whom they see everyday, such as the postman, the policeman, the fireman or the policeman. These costumes are also like by children. Birds such as the peacock and animals such as the bear, the lion or the tiger are also favorites with them.

Most of these costumes can either be ordered or bought from your nearby store. You can also book online for them. The best way would, of course, be to create your own costume for the child. This way, the child will be involved in the process of making the costume. You will know how the dress fits the child.
You can make adjustments accordingly. You can use an old pair of jeans and an old shirt to make the costumes of animals and birds. All the cartoon characters also need the exact color of dress with the special feature of that character.

You can buy all the accessories from a website. All the essential fancy dress accessories like belts, scarves, paints to color and make masks, wigs and hats will completely change the look of address. The face can either be painted or a mask can be used. The paint used should not harm the skin. False eyelashes and eyebrows, hair extensions will add to the special look for the girls’ costume.

Care should be taken to see that the dress is neither too tight nor too loose. This will be uncomfortable for the child. The accessories such a veil or wings should be well secured and should not come off or prick or harm the girls. The costume itself should have reflectors so that people can see them in the dark when they go ‘trick a treat’. It would best if flame resistant clothing is chosen so that they are safe when near a candle or a source of fire.

It is fun dressing up the little girls and boys in different costumes. This gives joy not only to the child but also the parents. There is immense joy and fun in creating costumes for the children. You can shop and buy all the material and if necessary make it by stitching the costume with the material available at home.
